New Year, New Life


To be completely honest, I wasn't too excited at the idea, nor was Jessie be for that matter. An all-night lock-in on New Year's Eve?!?! The thought of not sleeping wasn't the least bit exciting. The busyness of the Christmas season was finally going to be over and I just wanted to rest!

Over the next few weeks, reluctantly, the New Year's Eve Lock-in was organized. My prayers for leaders who were willing and/or able to help out were answered and the event became a reality.

The results...

I learned that following God sometimes includes doing things
you don't necessarily want to, but that when you do
He blesses you beyond what you could ever imagine.

What happened?

On January 1st at approximately 1:00am in the morning- following a short worship set- six students made first-time commitments to Jesus Christ, 16 others rededicating their lives' to Christ, and nearly all in attendance pledged to make 2008 a year in which they got serious about their faith.

No Sleep? No Problem! I can't think of any better way to bring in the New Year.
I'm so thankful that God's plans are much greater ours- or for that matter anything we could ever ask or imagine.


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen! - Ephesians 3:20-21

What is God asking you to do this year? Who is God calling you to be?

Take the next step in faith... even if it isn't something you think you want to do. If you do, He'll bless you beyond what you could ever ask for. That's certainly what He did for me allowing me to pray with six students who I can now call brothers and 16 others who've come back home.

I pray God blesses you with a great 2008.

One thing is for sure: He's already at work... will you join Him in what He's doing?
